Southern Peach Cobbler

Peach Cobbler recipe inspired by The Baker's Man

A Dash of Magic & a Scoop of Summer: Peach Cobbler from The Baker’s Man

There’s something about peach cobbler that just feels like sunshine, doesn’t it? Sweet, golden peaches tucked beneath a warm, buttery crust—it’s the kind of dessert that makes you pause, inhale a deep breath, and feel like everything is going to be just fine.

In The Baker’s Man, Anna believes that a good recipe can feel like an enchantment—a way to comfort, to gather, to remember. And this particular peach cobbler recipe? It’s one of those. The kind the folks of Mystic Water, Georgia, would pass around at potlucks, church suppers, or leave on a neighbor’s porch when words didn’t feel like quite enough.

Mystic Water folks love a cozy recipe—especially if it’s sprinkled with a hint of magic. Me too! Maybe it’s the cinnamon that lingers just a second too long, or the way the crust somehow always turns out golden, no matter who’s baking it. Maybe it’s the way people lean in a little closer when it’s served, like they know something lovely’s about to happen.

This cobbler is inspired by the kind Anna might bake on a slow summer afternoon, apron tied just so, the kitchen windows open to let in the breeze—and the whispers of possibility.

If you’re craving something sweet, simple, and full of heart, give this recipe a try.

From Anna's bakery to yours, may your days be peach-filled and your kitchen full of love.

Southern Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

5 peaches , peeled, cored and sliced (about 4 cups) (or 600-700 g)

3/4 cup granulated sugar (150 g)

1/4 teaspoon salt

For the batter:

6 Tablespoons butter (85 g)

1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)

1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup milk (180 ml)

ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Add the sliced peaches, sugar, and salt to a saucepan and stir to combine.

  2. If using canned peaches, skip steps 1 & 2 and follow the directions starting at step 3.

  3. Cook on medium heat for just a few minutes, until the sugar is dissolved. This brings out juices from the peaches. Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice butter into pieces, and add to a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place the pan in the oven while it preheats, to allow butter to melt. Once melted, remove the pan from the oven.

  5. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk, just until combined. Pour the mixture into the pan, over the melted butter, and smooth it into an even layer.

  6. Spoon the peaches and juice (or canned peaches, if using) over the batter. Sprinkle cinnamon generously over the top.

  7. Bake at 350 degrees for about 38–40 minutes. Serve warm, with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.
