Sometimes a family treasure hunt unfurls new and unexpected paths in life.

Independent, artistic Mattie Russell has grown up on the move, following her free-spirited mama, Lilith, all across the country, living in a new city every couple of years. When Mattie's mama, and sole companion, dies unexpectedly, Mattie returns to her mama's hometown of Ivy Ridge to bury her in the family plot. Mattie has no intentions to stick around the small town, even though she has no future destination in mind. Her Aunt Penelope would love for Mattie to stay, but she’s also hesitant to entangle Mattie in the Russell family secrets about their special giftings.

During the reading of the will, the family is shocked to learn Lilith’s will includes a testamentary trust that requires Mattie to stay in Ivy Ridge long enough to complete a series of seemingly absurd tasks in order to claim her inheritance. While completing the tasks, Mattie discovers that her mama had a well-thought-out plan for her daughter that would lead Mattie to finding her birth father, teach her how to choose her own path, learn to keep her heart open for love, and discover that staying still long enough to sow seeds can produce a stunning garden and vibrant life.

The Magic All Around is magical realism and Southern escapism at its finest. But—like Steel Magnolias, Lady Bird, and Mamma Mia—at its heart, it’s a story about the complicated relationship between mothers and daughters and the importance of choosing your own path.
